When to Schedule Your Puppy's First Groom

For most puppies, the ideal time for their first grooming session is after their second round of vaccinations, ideally before 16 weeks. This early stage is crucial as puppies are trusting, adaptable to strangers, and easily acclimate to new sounds and sensations.

We understand it's challenging to leave your puppy for the first grooming session, but rest assured, we love grooming puppies and provide them with plenty of Tender Loving Care (T.L.C.)!

How to Make Your Puppy's First Groom Pleasant

Creating a positive first grooming experience is essential.

Start by gently touching your puppy daily, incorporating playful massages, and introducing them to grooming tools. Blow on them or use a hand-held dryer (on medium heat and constantly moving) to familiarize them with the drying process.

Then, gradually tap their nails with a metal spoon, including the back paws. Regular handling and treats can make this a fun routine that your puppy will end up looking forward to!

During your puppy's first grooming session, our expert groomers focus on building trust and ensuring a pleasant experience. The thorough process includes brushing to eliminate knots, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and even gentle teeth brushing. A warm bath with shampoo and conditioner is followed by towel drying and a warm blow dryer to prevent chills.

Gradual Introduction to Haircuts

Rather than overwhelming your puppy with a full haircut, we recommend a phased approach.

We start with a face trim, feet trim, and sanitary cut during the first appointment, allowing your puppy to acclimate to the salon environment. Then, you return in three to four weeks for a complete body trim.
